Good Morning.....!!!
Today we are back with Basic factors effecting Chain/ Belt Lifetime.
In the design stage it is helpful to consider some of the basic factors that have an effect on belt/chain lifetime and know how they can be used to increase the overall lifetime of the belt or chain. The chart below gives a general indication of some of the more important parameters and their general effect on overall belt life.
Shorter Lifetime
1. Less Lubrication
2. Smaller Pin Diameter
3. Smaller Sprocket Diameter
4. Less wearstrip support
5.Higher speed
6. Higher load
7. More dirt
8. Greater no. of curves
9. Greater no. of start / stop
10. Greater no.of times front & backflexing
Longer Lifetime
1. More Lubrication
2. Greater Pin Diameter
3. Greater Sprocket Diameter
4. More Wearstrip support
5. Less speed
6. Less load
7. Less dirt
8. Lesser no. of curves
9. Lesser no. of start/ stop
10. Fewer no. of times front & backflexing
To be continued.....
